Flutterby the Fairy

One day I was on the way home from school on the bus. We went over a bump. It was Friday so I had my fiddle.  On the chair next to me my fiddle fell against my ear. I heard some sort of chattering noise.

When I got home I looked to see what the noise was, and there, right in front of me was a sparkly, glamorous, beautiful fairy. She had a sparkly, white dress, beautiful gold wings and sparkly silver shoes. She was the most beautiful thing I’ve see in my life. I asked her what her name was. She said Flutterby.

“Hmm” I thought, Flutterby, Flutterby the fairy. I asked her how she got there.

“Well…” she said, “I was listening to you play but I was so engrossed I didn’t realize when you put it away. Oh and thank you for letting me out.”

Flutterby sprinkled fairy dust on my nose, and said “I will see you soon.”

Soon after I met Flutterby, I was doing a school play with my fiddle but I couldn’t get the tune right. My nose was itchy during practice so I scratched it. Suddenly Flutterby appeared in front of me, sprinkled fairy dust on my fiddle, sit on my shoulder and listened to me play. The tune was perfect! The audience loved it!

Jungle Adventure

Tom, a twelve year old boy lived with his dad and annoying little brother called John. Tom and John’s dad had a farm with 5 ducks, 4 cows, 6 sheep, 1 ram, 3 sheep dogs and 1 cat. “Tom and John, bedtime,” called dad. They went to bed, but Tom didn’t go to sleep, he snuck out and got into his dad’s boat, his sheep dog came too. He fell asleep in the boat. When he woke up he was a mile away from the jungle and there was a big dog swimming towards him. The big dog said “hello.” Tom was shocked. The dog was friendly and helped Tom in the jungle. Tom saw a crocodile and walked past it quickly and tiptoed into the jungle. Tom got lost in the jungle, “help I’m lost” he shouted. He saw elephants, tigers and cheetahs behind the trees.  He thought that if he was sneaky enough he could sneak past them and find his way out but they heard him and the cheetahs and tigers went after him!  He got deeper into the jungle and saw the crocodile again and the crocodile went after him “SNAP?”

“What?  The card game SNAP?” Tom asked.

“Yeh” the crocodile said.  “You fancy a game?”  They play a game of SNAP, crocodiles, cheetahs and tigers too.

Dwarf

There was a dwarf who dug holes. One day Steve the dwarf was digging a hole when gold popped out of nowhere. He put it in his dwarf riches bag, suddenly some more gold popped out of nowhere. He noticed that there was a hole on the outside of his bag. He looked inside his bag but there was no hole in it, but there was on the outside! He kept on putting the gold back in the bag but it fell out again. He took all the gold in the bag out and became a very rich dwarf.

All the other dwarves where jealous of his richness and they tried to steal his cash. Steve was a nice dwarf so he created a dwarf lottery of M1,000,000 dwarf pounds. Three week’s later a dwarf called Barry won it and became a very happy dwarf. He held a celebration party for his cash, unfortunately he spent it all and became a poor dwarf again.

One day Steve heard some dwarves outside his posh mansion. He got his butler to open the door; he heard a splat sound’ his butler got squashed and turned into a dwarf pancake. The criminals came into his room and squashed Steve and turned him into a very small dwarf. He called the MPD (mini police of dwarf’s) they came in and arrested the criminals, and took Steve’s butler to hospital. It cost 3,000 rubber bands to stretch them back to dwarf size. In the middle of the night there was a *twang* and the dwarves where back to normal size.

He went back to his house and heard someone talking in his living room. He slowly crept into the building and saw a talking frog. It said its name was Fribbity the Frog and he was lost in this place with some other frogs called Ribbety, Bribbity, Nibbity and Ponda. He got his skilful friends to come and build a big nice house for them, but the frogs didn’t like it. Fribbity asked for a pond with a big lily pad with a leafy house on top of it. Steve got some pond dwarfs to come and build a big clean kidney shaped pond with lily pads on it and one big lily pad with a leaf house on it. The frogs then lived there and Steve tried to find a way to get the frogs back to there frog houses in Froggy Kingdom or Fribbitydibbity as some frogs may say. He went and asked Fribbity where his house was. He said he didn’t know where it was. After lots of research on an ancient frog map Steve and his butler found the place where he lived on the map. He excitedly leaped to the frog’s house and told them that he found their home. All the frogs where very happy but they wanted to stay at Steve’s big posh mansion so they did.

A Special Kind

I feel lonely, different. I don’t really feel as if I belong here, on this planet, I mean, this world. I don’t fit in with humans, no matter how hard I try! My kind just isn’t common on Earth. We are rare; our species is extraordinary, unique. Most people don’t believe us, to them we’re just unimaginable, because of that, we’re forced to isolate ourselves. There’s only one person that has ever made a difference to me, Ruby Murphy. A child, seven years of age. Ruby lives in the flat beneath me in Kirkwall. Most nights we talk, but my mum doesn’t like it when we talk aloud so we talk in our heads. Well she hasn’t said she doesn’t like it but I know. That happens quite a lot though.

Tonight, me and Ruby speak.

“Hello? Ruby? Are you awake?” I communicate.

“Hi? Um… who are you again? I don’t remember. Are you ok? I don’t think I can remember my name! Is it Ruby? That’s a nice name!” says the girl.

“You know me! I’m your best friend! Grace?! Grace White!” and then, suddenly, we’re cut off. Alone.

“School Grace!” mum calls. “Are you ready yet?!”

Often, I’m alone. Alone walking to school. Alone in the playground. Alone at home. The first bell to ring is for everyone to line up at the schools front door, ready to go in and start work.

Two times Seven =

Two times nine =

Two times five =

Whizzing through each one, like a hungry dog would chew through succulent bacon, thinking about getting home, to where I’m safe. Eleven O’clock! Break! I’m going to start my new book! In peace?!

“Ruby?” I try.

No reply.

Oh well…

I tiptoe back inside to get my book –the boy in the striped pyjamas. But as I return, a large, rough hand stops me in my tracks.

“Oi! Where do you think you’re going, Einstein?!” came an all-too-familiar voice. I sighed. “Not happy to see us are ya?!” the bully shouted insistently. I bruise my leg in a failed attempt to break out. I wince in pain as Hailey blocks my way out, signalling for Georgia and Katie to prevent me from escaping. I summon all my strength in panic and then FLASH! A white blaze! I awake only to find I have appeared in my own home, where I feel most safe. I have to tell Ruby! She’ll have this power aswell!

“Ruby!” I struggle, but no reply. She’s been acting strange recently. Ignoring me. It’s as if she’s here but she’s not? She doesn’t remember ANYTHING!

“I’m gone…” is the last I hear….
